The Massage Therapy Foundation (the Foundation) was established and chartered by visionary leaders of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and originally incorporated in the State of Illinois as the AMTA Foundation in 1990. The organization's name was officially changed to the Massage Therapy Foundation by action of its Board of Trustees in February 2004.
The Massage Therapy Foundation advances the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education, and community service.
